Какова роль роговицы?

Основная роль роговицы – концентрация лучей света и передача их на глазное дно, место расположения сетчатки, которая поглощает световые лучи и кодирует их в электрические сигналы, передаваемые в мозг. Хотя роговица прозрачная и тонкая, она очень прочная, и используется для защиты глаз от микробов и чужеродных веществ. Для нормального функционирования роговица должна быть влажной и покрытой слоем слезы.
